Tegendraads (2024) is a feature film set in Oldenzaal in the 1960s, during a time of economic growth driven by the textile industry. As local factories bring in workers from Italy, tensions arise within the community, revealing the complexities of integration, identity, and belonging.
Against this backdrop, the film weaves together stories of ambition, cultural contrast, and personal transformation from Italian workers navigating a new environment to a local young woman striving to become a fashion designer.
I worked as art director on the film, supporting production designer Michel de Graaf in shaping the visual world of the story. My work focused on the development of the factory environments, translating the industrial character of the region into cinematic spaces.
The film was shot across locations in both the Netherlands and England. For the English shoot used to represent Dutch locations
