Fanny (2026) is a historical costume drama set within the opulent and restrictive world of the Viennese court.
The film follows an ambitious hairdresser to Empress Elisabeth (‘Sisi’), navigating the rigid hierarchies and expectations of court life. As she challenges the social norms and moral codes of her time, she draws the attention of the Empress and the public eye.
For this Hungarian co-production, I worked on the Dutch and Belgian segments of the film, contributing to the design and realisation of key environments, including Fanny’s private bedroom, backstage theatre spaces, and the palace kitchens.
Within these spaces, I explored the contrast between public and private worlds from intimate, character-driven interiors to the layered, functional environments behind the spectacle of court life. My approach balances historical detail with a tactile, atmospheric sensibility, supporting the emotional and narrative arc of the story.
